Life out there is the primary means of inspiration for anyone. This story represents how inspiration always comes from the things we see and hear from the world around us. It's about a surreal painting made by Salvador Dalí in 1948 called 'The Elephants'.
All of us probably have seen Dali's image more than the images of his paintings. To give you a little introduction about him (personal opinion), he was a crazy man who was extremely talented, he first tried to understand his inner turmoil as an artist and eventually started enjoying it and he was very driven to create something out of this to express himself to the world.
As he grew up he realized that personal expression with smart branding becomes highly-priced art. So it's him who invented personal branding for the modern world.
We need to remember here that he was a Surrealist. They don't have morals. Because Surrealism is a rebellion against the very idea of what is and isn't right or wrong. So at first glance, it might look funny or disturbing (but it will be extreme.)
But everything is in reading the details: First of all, you'll see elephants depict strength and the future. They are carrying objects (it's an obelisk- a symbol of power in general in Egyptian society) and have very flamingo-like thin legs, depicting weightlessness. They are extremely strong and smart, characteristics that were very attractive. Of course, elephants live for long periods of time, and therefore, to Dalí, they also represent immortality.
The painting also reflects playing with the role of gravity. This painting gives you a chance to fly if you want to. Yes, the truth is only you will do everything that you are supposed to do while carrying all that weight but allow nobody to tell you how you should do it.
You can be seen as structurally incapable to others and please don't correct them. Your ability to look at a situation differently will help you look at what's coming ahead. You have to see things from above the box, not from outside of it. And you know what, as you go ahead you will start finding others with the same POV. It's not wrong or right. It's just you.
Dalí is immortal because I have no relations with him, I have not even been fortunate enough to see or touch any of his artwork in real life. But I have been thinking a lot about this painting by Dalì and it has inspired me a lot to act accordingly. Just wanted to share this with you all. If you are reading this then I really hope this painting gets stuck in your mind and you think about it again when someone is trying to tell you how you are supposed to be.
Remember, only you know what's best for you.
